About this Event
NAHE are delighted to be offering their popular face to face leadership conference for all members of senior leadership teams involved in hospital education, CAMHS Units and medical alternative provision. There is no other event where you get to network with colleagues working in similar settings, learn from your peers and share best practice. The focus of the 2 days is strategic leadership.The conference will offer onsite visits to Manchester Hospital School as well as faciliated discussions with professionals in the field. Entry to the conference includes 2 fully packed days including lunch and refreshments on both days.
Keynote speakers:
Professor Steve Munby - Professor Steve Munby is a consultant and speaker on leadership and system reform in education. Between 2005 and 2012, Steve was Chief Executive of the National College for School Leadership in England and he previously a Chief Executive of the Education Development Trust,
Steven is Visiting Professor at the Institute for Education at University College London and is Chair of the Teaching Awards Trust in the UK. He was awarded the title of Commander of the British Empire (CBE) in 2010 for contributions to leadership in schools and children’s services. He is the author of ‘Imperfect Leadership’.
Dr Pooky Knighsmith - An internationally respected face of child and adolescent mental health, Pooky works tirelessly to ‘be the change she wants to see’. A prolific keynote speaker, lecturer, trainer and author, she develops and shares practical, evidence-informed approaches to promoting mental health – arming health and education staff with the skills, information and knowledge they need to support the children in their care; whilst also working hard to drive collaboration and change at a national and international level amongst politicians and charity, business and service leads. Pooky has a PhD in child mental health from the Institute of Psychiatry, is the author of seven books and was previously the chair of the Children and Young People’s Mental Health Coalition. She’s also an autistic Mum of two who works hard every day to win her own battles against PTSD, anorexia, self-harm and depression.
There will also be sessions from a leading HMI about Ofsted inspections in our settings and a consultation with colleagues from the Department of Education about our thoughts on the SEND and AP reforms contained in the Green Paper, alongside the opportunity to hear from other colleagues about best practice.
