About this Event
This inaugural symposium will highlight recent innovations in the practice of spinal surgery. The robust curriculum—taught by experts at HSS and world-renowned guest faculty—will focus on enabling technologies including robotics, navigation and augmented virtual reality. Biologics, regenerative medicine and awake spine surgery will also be discussed. The presentations will feature evolving and controversial techniques and technologies like endoscopy, as well as medical devices and 3-D printing.
Please see detailed agenda below.
Target Audience | This activity is targeted to spine surgeons, non-operative spine and sports physicians, and advanced practice providers. Residents, fellows and medical students may also benefit from this activity.
Learning Objectives | Hospital for Special Surgery Professional Education activities are intended to improve the quality of patient care and safety. At the conclusion of this course, the participant will be able to:
- Identify the emerging technologies involving navigation/robotics/augmented and virtual reality.
- Understand the appropriate utilization, learning curves, indications and pitfalls associated with the use of these technologies.
- Discuss the current trends surrounding biologics, regenerative medicine and novel devices used in today’s spine care of patients.
- Explain indications and limitations of spinal anesthesia in awake spine surgery.
