2022 Election Review

When the 2022 midterm election is over, will you be breathing a sigh of relief or will you be worrying even more and sleeping even less?

What will be the implications of the results at all levels of government – local, state and national? What were the most surprising results? What are the implications for the next presidential election?

The LWVSD is hosting this event on Thursday, November 10 at 7 to 8:30pm at the new Public Engagement Building of the UCSD Department of Social Sciences. The Department is opening its new 7th floor conference room and terrace for us.

Thad Kousser, Professor in the UCSD Political Science Department, will give us his overview of the most important election results. Professor Kousser studies American state and national politics, voting reforms, direct democracy, and how politicians use social media. He joined the department in 2003 and has served as chair 2016-2022. He is a frequent commentator on American politics for venues such as NPR, the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, the Washington Post, and the Los Angeles Times.

The new Public Engagement Building has underground parking that is easily accessed from North Torrey Pines Rd. by turning right on Muir College Drive and looking for the large P (for parking) sign for Scholars Parking. Once you enter the underground lot, go down a level and look for the gray signs that designate the parking under the Public Engagement Building which is in the northeast corner of the new complex. Then take the elevator to the 7th floor.

Public transportation is available via the MTS trolley to the UCSD stop, followed by a half mile walk.
