About DC Scores: DC SCORES creates neighborhood teams that give kids the confidence and skills to succeed on the playing field, in the classroom, and in life. We envision a DC where every child – no matter their family income – experiences the joys of childhood: sports, arts, service, and being part of a team. Where every child – no matter their family circumstances – is empowered to find academic success and grow into an emotionally and physically healthy teen and adult. Where every neighborhood supports and celebrates its children and their accomplishments on and off the playing field. Web site: https://www.dcscores.org/

About The Spirit of Football: The kick off for Spirit of Football e.V. happened in 2005, when Andrew Aris, our founder from New Zealand, and half a football team committed themselves to the adventure of football combined with a social aspect. In an interview with the University of Erfurt Andrew talks about how everything began. The three pillars that our fair play culture is based upon are diversity, respect and teamwork. We aim to integrate them into our organizational culture. These values play a fundamental role in all of our activities and projects. Our philosophy is represented by a very special ball: “The Ball” which is football’s equivalent to the Olympic torch. Every four years it starts in London and crosses different countries to reach its destination, the Opening Ceremony of the FIFA World Cup. “The Ball” is about much more than football, though, because it the voice of our core values and the embodiment of the spirit of humanity.
