2022 City in Nature Challenge Bioblitz at Candlestick Point SRA

Do you love being outside? Do you want to learn more about the plants and animals around you? Are you interested in meeting other nature lovers and enjoying Spring at California's first urban state park? Then join us Sunday, May 1st for Candlestick Point SRA's Spring Bioblitz, in collaboration with the 2022 City in Nature Challenge.

Bring a pal, a reusable water bottle, and a smartphone or camera, and enjoy a volunteer-led nature walk as we use our own knowledge, technology, and collaboration to make observations of the living things around us.

8:45- 9:00 iNaturalist Introduction & Check-In

9:00 - 9:15 Welcome, 2022 City in Nature Challenge and Event Overview

9:15-10:30 BioBlitz!

10:30- 11 Debrief and Snacks!

We'll be meeting at the kiosk in front of 500 Hunter's Point Expressway and will head into our grassland and shoreline ecosystems. While most of the area is paved, we may encounter mud, tall grass, and lots of dust so please dress accordingly.

This event is being organized as part of the 2022 City in Nature Challenge. Started in 2016 as a competition between San Francisco and Los Angeles, the City in Nature Chellenge (CNC) has grown into an international event, motivating people around the world to find and document wildlife in and around their cities. Last year, over 400 cities participated, with more than 52,000 people making over 1.2 million observations of nature in the four days of the challenge.
