About this Event

The Children’s Brain Tumor Network (CBTN) is excited to present our Annual Network Meeting & Inaugural Scientific Summit on October 16 & 17 in Washington, DC. Held in-person for the first time since 2019 (including a virtual option to allow for broader engagement) we’ll host an international community of clinicians, patient families, researchers, foundations, and advocates committed to uncovering cures for childhood brain and spinal cord tumors.

CBTN Annual Network Meeting

This year’s gathering opens with a day-long Network Meeting dedicated to uniting our CBTN community in one space to strengthen our collective commitment to advancing research and discovery in pediatric brain tumors. Representatives from CBTN member sites, foundation partners, and other key stakeholders will participate in a series of informative and engaging sessions to review the current state of CBTN resources and share updates on protocols and processes to promote shared understandings and expectations. The event will also showcase recent contributions and advances by members from across this international network.

CBTN Network Dinner

Sunday, October 16 from 5:45pm to 8:30pm

Following the Network Meeting, CBTN is proud to host our Network Dinner, a celebration of CBTN’s growth and accomplishments. Open to CBTN members, the dinner will also be host to our second annual Impact Awards ceremony, where we’ll honor childhood brain tumor investigators who have accelerated the pace of scientific discovery by being champions for innovation, collaboration, and global inclusion, as well as foundation partners whose steadfast support has accelerated CBTN's global impact and the next phase of collaborative research.

CBTN Scientific Summit

Monday, October 17; 8:00am to 5:00pm

Breakfast available at 8:00am / Summit begins at 9:00am

On Monday, October 17, CBTN will host its Scientific Summit, where investigators from across the globe will present scientific research across basic, translational, and data sciences, as well as technologies illustrating advancements in pediatric brain tumor research. Open to all those interested in CBTN’s mission and research efforts, the Summit will include focused panel discussions to stimulate progress in key areas of unmet need in pediatric brain tumor research and clinical translation.

CBTN Poster Session & Cocktail Hour

Monday, October 17; 5:30pm to 7:30pm

Following the Scientific Summit, all attendees are invited to our closing CBTN Poster Session and Cocktail Hour. Nearly 300 projects have leveraged CBTN resources to accelerate discovery. At the CBTN Poster Session, attendees can learn more about the latest scientific findings and projects currently underway to advance in pediatric brain tumor research around the globe.

The session will also showcase the latest research by early-career investigators, illustrating the ways new scientists are harnessing the powerful resources and tools available through CBTN, and celebrating their valuable contributions to the field of childhood brain tumor research.

Parking information:

We offer onsite parking at the Rumbaugh Parking Garage, a controlled access, 500+ space, covered facility. The charge for parking is $4 per hour with a maximum charge of $16. per day.

Hotel Recommendations:

  • Double Tree by Hilton Hotels Washington DC Silver Springs(5-7 minutes by car)
  • Courtyard by Marriott Downtown Silver Springs (5-7 minutes by car)
  • Downtown Bethesda is a 15-minute Uber ride
  • Downtown DC is a 25 – 30-minute Uber ride (but could be expensive during rush hour)

Airport information:

  • Washington National (DCA) is 30-35 minutes
  • Baltimore-Washington International (BWI) is 35-40 minutes
  • Dulles International (IAD) is 1hour +
