2022 Chesterton Wizard of Oz Days

Oz at Chesterton is back! All the magic, entertainment and camaraderie of Chesterton’s legendary Wizard of Oz Festival returns May 14 and 15, 2022, as Wizard of Oz Days! Over 40 years ago Chesterton, IN hosted a spectacular weekend to celebrate Oz and for several decades became the nation’s most attended annual Oz event. Now returning once again, the weekend promises to delight fans of all ages like never before, indoor and out, following Indiana’s safety guidelines to safely offer an unforgettable weekend for all.

Indoor events will take place in and around the Duneland Falls Banquet & Event Center, 1100 North Max Mochal Highway (SR 149) in Chesterton, IN.; kicking off the weekend Friday, May 13, 2022 at 5pm with the sparkly Ruby Slipper Gala with a catered dinner, special Ozzy guests, a live Oz music concert, Oz in Chesterton retrospective, live Oz collectible auction and more. The event will feature Joe Luft, the son of the legendary Judy Garland, Peter Mac as Judy and more, as we celebrate the 100th Birthday of Judy Garland.

The weekend will present the amazing Wizard of Oz Characters who will both perform and meet and greet fans for socially distanced photo ops. Programs feature many favorite stars of the Oz community, such as Joe Luft (son of Judy Garland), Peter Mac as Judy, Wally Kreuger (Oz Collectors United), Joe Shipbaugh (Oz artist), James & Amanda Wallace (Oz Authors), over 15 actors from Oz, The Great & Powerful movie, Michael Roche (Oz Artist), Steven’s Puppets, Todd Rector (Oz Artist), Michael Siewert (Oz & Judy Historian), Tim Wolak (Oz Artist) and more to be announced soon.

Don’t miss your chance to meet our official Wizard of Oz characters: Dorothy and Toto, Scarecrow, Tin Man, Lion, and Glinda; but wait, can’t forget the Wicked Witch of the West! She’ll be cackling there too. You never know what friends you may meet along the Yellow Brick Road.

Plus there’s our phenomenal vendors, displaying everything from Oz collectibles to handmade crafts. You’ll also meet the Oz artists and authors. AND loads of food, contests, games and so much more! Everywhere you turn will take to the magical Land of Oz.

The largest Wizard of Oz Festival of its kind was created by Ms. Jean Nelson and was held in Chesterton for 31 years (1981-2012). We look forward to honoring the cherished, long standing tradition of that event with the new Wizard of Oz Days, May 14-15, 2022. It promises to be a reunion of sorts. Sharing old pictures of past festivals, swapping memories and remembering the love of the Wizard of Oz. The GALA will take place on Friday Night with the OZsome Festival on Saturday and Sunday.

Follow the Yellow Brick Road to the Wizard of Oz Days in Chesterton, IN. The Wizard of Oz Days will be held on May 14-15, 2022 at the Duneland Falls Banquet & Event Center, 1100 North Max Mochal Highway (SR 149) in Chesterton, IN.

The "Breakfast with the Characters" is an amazing way to start the day with a great breakfast and up close and personal with the Wizard of Oz Characters. Truly a morning that you will never forget. There will be one seating only, 9:00- 10 am. Make sure to bring your camera. "Breakfast with the Characters" tickets are $12/person. Under age 1 are free. Your ticket to the "Breakfast with the Characters" will get you free admission to the Wizard of Oz Days festivities. ONLY 200 tickets will be sold.

The afternoon "Celebration of the Munchkins" event will take place at 1:30 pm. A once in a lifetime event, as the Ballroom will be transformed into Munchkin Land complete with a sweet treats and chocolate fountain. The event will feature a presentation by Michael Siewert on Munchkin Margret Pellegrini and Munchkin Actors from Oz, The Great & Powerful movie, along with a dedication to Mary Ellen St. Aubin, Munchkin by Marriage and first lady of the Chesterton Wizard of Oz Festival.
