About this Event

Dr. Eric Yancy is a practicing pediatrician of forty-two years in the Indianapolis area. In his fiction novel, Cottonmouth, a deadly pandemic has resulted in hundreds of thousands of deaths worldwide. Dr. Alton McGuire, a retired molecular biologist has done everything he can to keep himself and his wife, Marnie safe. A tragic mishap changes both their lives and Dr. McGuire agonizes over who is to blame. A senior pediatric resident, Dr. Lillian Manning, living in their guest quarters must enter the picture to try and save them, and the world from an even worst disaster. To accomplish this she must use all of her skill as a physician and a friend.

The book narrative highlights the challenges of an underserved community and the discrimination that comes with it. It also keenly demonstrates that tragedy is not measured in flattening curves of cases of positive results. Each "case" of infectivity is a personal tragedy not just to those infected but to their families and friends as well.
