About this Event
Outdoor Education Mission:
Polk's Nature Discovery Center will provide hands-on learning experiences in an outdoor setting that engage students in investigating the value of Polk County's natural resources. Through this exploration, students will discover the interconnection of water, wildlife and wilderness; understand their impact on the environment; and foster a sense of personal stewardship towards the environment.
THIS EVENTBRITE IS FOR SELF GUIDED PROGRAMS. (a Circle B Staff member is NOT present to facilitate the program)
Who Should Sign Up For This Event?:
This event registration is intended for self-guided programs. If you are planning on bringing a group out to Circle B for any educational purpose, we ask that you let us know the date and time you plan to be out at Circle B and what you intend to do with your group. Groups that should sign up through this Eventbrite include, but are not limited to:
- Public, Private, and Charter Schools (K-12th)
- Homeschool Groups
- College Groups
- Community Centers
- Girls Scouts & Boy Scouts
- Church Groups (Royal Rangers, Missionets, AWANAS Club, VBS, etc.)
- Other Clubs
Program Options:
At Circle B, there are many self-guided activities you may do with your students. Listed below are some of the self-guided programs we offer at the Nature Center, but we welcome other ideas as well.
- Agents of Discovery Mobile App Game and designated 2-mile hike
- Nature Explore-Outdoor Classroom
- Nature BINGO
- Nature Scavenger Hunt
Program Details:
Agents of Discovery Mobile App Game and 2-mile hike is a, fun gaming experience, which requires players to walk a 2-mile hike to solve challenge questions related to the environment and the plants and animals that live at Circle B Bar Reserve.
Nature Explore-Outdoor Classroom encourages children and educators to connect with nature in meaningful ways and play authentically; this play, in turn, yields rich learning opportunities
Nature BINGO go on a leisurely hike and allow students to observe nature's home and make a game out of it. Be the first to find all the items in a row, or a column, or corner to corner.
Nature Scavenger Hunt is another alternative game to allow students to observe nature's home while on a leisurely hike.
Other self-guided programs and activities are welcomed and encouraged. If you plan to create your own self-guided program, we request that you share this program with us so we may ensure that it helps achieve our Outdoor Education Mission, and so we may then share it with others.
Polk's Nature Discovery Center Hours:
- Monday: CLOSED
- Tuesday - Friday: 9:00am-4:00pm
- Saturday: 9:00am-4:00pm
- Sunday: 12:00pm-4:00pm
