2021 KWANZAA KEN-TU FESTTHE COLLECTIVE ART OF STORYTELLING: THE UNVEILINGKúkátónón invites the surrounding Portland, Oregon community (children, youth, young and older adults, along with our elders) to participate in the holiday celebration that honors and recognizes African American and Pan-African people, community, culture, traditions and achievements. Since 1966, KWANZAA has been celebrated around the world.The Nguzo Saba, or the seven principles, are interwoven in the 2021 Kúkátónón program that will spotlight wellness, cultural foods, Real H.I.P. H.O.P. Circles (RHHC) Community Talk, and Kwanzaa Education. Umoja/Unity - Celebrated on December 26, aligns with the business collective providing cultural and artistic collaboration for the Kwanzaa event.-----The WELLNESS WORKOUT using COMMIT Dance Fitness by Commit to You (CTY) Fitness, encourages Vitality. We encourage all participants to wear casual layers of clothing to adjust to varied temperatures. -----The SUNDAY BRUNCH (Pilot) Cultural Catering Competition will spotlight three (3) new local Black women-owned businesses (since 2020 or 2021) preparing cultural cuisines inspired by the African diaspora, that will delight the taste buds. Vegetarian items will be served by all caterers. Vegan food will be served by one of the three caterers. Red meat/poultry/seafood will be served by two of the three caterers.1. Cokiea's Kitchen "Food for the Soul"2. Erica's Soul Food3. Kabba's Kitchen -----The Real H.I.P. H.O.P. Circles COMMUNITY TALK will focus on the topic: How has violence and trauma stifled or elevated creativity in my City & Community? How can Umoja/Unity be restored?-----We will conclude the 2021 Kwanzaa Ken-Tu Fest with a Kinara Lighting and Kwanzaa Education. -----Kúkátónón received a 25% discount for the Oaks Park Skating Rink. Use the Coupon Code at oakspark.com/rinktix for the discounted admission ticket. The discount will only be available with the online purchase of admission tickets (no on-site discount available). We do not have an online purchase cut-off, so people looking to buy the discounted tickets on the day of the event can do so online right up to and even during by using that website.
