CU Folk and Roots Festival – COVID-19 Policy and Guidance
Guidance for Attending the Festival

We are requiring proof of full vaccination or negative Covid-19 PCR test result to volunteer for and/or attend the 2021 C-U Folk and Roots Festival. This applies to attendees and volunteers 12 and older. Full vaccination means you have received a second dose of an authorized two-dose vaccine, or a single-dose vaccine, approved for full or emergency use from the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) or World Health Organization (WHO), at least 14 days prior to the date of the event. As an alternative to proof of vaccination, you may gain entry by presenting a negative PCR COVID-19 test result within 72 hours of the event.

Vaccination cards or proof of vaccination will be checked as part of the process of purchasing or obtaining a festival wristband.

For non-vaccinated individuals, we will require a negative COVID-19 test done within 72 hours of the event. For testing, please note that the results of a home test kit will not be accepted.

Masks will be required for all indoor events. For indoors, please keep your mask on as much as possible. For outdoor events, masks are recommended.

Please be Prepared

You will need to bring one of the following and a photo ID for admission into any Festival events:

Physical vaccination card or Legible Photo of Vaccination card and valid ID, such as a driver’s license.

Digital proof of vaccination card (photo or scan) that is clear and legible

Proof of a negative COVID-19 test within 72 hours of obtaining a festival wristband

Proof of a negative COVID-19 test can be provided using the SaferCommunity app. SaferCommunity is a free app that connects your verified identity with your health insights to provide a safer, easier way back to the places and people you love. For more information, see https://safer.illinois.edu/. The SaferCommunity app is available for both iOS and Android.

What You Can Do Before the Festival – Please Get Vaccinated

The most important thing you can do to protect yourself and those unable to be vaccinated is to get vaccinated for COVID-19 if possible. Your vaccine will also help protect those who are unable to vaccinate. Vaccines are available throughout our community, seven days a week. The vaccines are safe, effective, and free. Anyone age 12 and older may come to Champaign-Urbana Public Health District on Monday-Friday, 8:30-4:30 for a choice of either Pfizer, Moderna or Johnson & Johnson vaccines. The process takes about 20 minutes -- five minutes to complete the paperwork and get the vaccine and 15 minutes to wait post-vaccine. Other vaccine locations in your local area can be located at www.vaccine.gov. Free COVID-19 testing is also available seven days a week in our county. Options can be found online: https://www.c-uphd.org/covid-testing.html. We recommend those who cannot vaccinate to test regularly. Even if you are vaccinated, you can test at any of these sites if you experience any symptoms or if you were in a situation that concerns you.

Not Vaccinated or Concerned About Indoor Events?

As some of the festival events will be streamed online (at no cost), you can enjoy the festival from the comfort of your home by streaming the festival on your favorite device. If you are not vaccinated or if you are concerned or worried about attending indoor events, then please try to catch as much of the festival stream as possible.
