Are you an entrepreneur aiming to scale your startup and seek investment funding but feel daunted by the complex world of venture capital? Have you wanted to start talking to investors but are worried you might not really understand how it all works? 'Entrepreneurial Finance: Speaking the Language of Venture Capital' is designed to help you take your first step in learning to demystify and understand the realm of startup funding. Taught by two seasoned entrepreneurs that have recently completed investment raises themselves, this hands-on 200-level workshop will guide you through understanding financial terms and term sheets, differentiating between safe notes, convertible notes, and more from a founders perspective and in an environment where there are no dumb questions. We'll discuss the different levels of funding and ways to assess whether your startup is actually investment-ready. This course is designed for entrepreneurs that think they may want to or are currently seeking to raise over $100K in investment. Join us to unlock the potential of your venture and set your entrepreneurial ambitions higher than ever before.

Dave DiCosola is the former Co-founder & CEO of PackDash, a Tucson based logistics start-up who recently exited. Dave has been an active member of the Tucson start-up community participating in the Start-up Tucson SPRINT challenge, FORGE Ahead mentoring, Avanza Empowerment Fund Loan Committee, and TechLaunch Arizona as a commercialization partner. Recently, Dave has joined the team at UA Venture Capital as Executive Director and will be working on deploying capital from UAVC’s third fund. His experience as both an entrepreneur and investor provide a unique perspective for anyone trying to raise capital without giving up control of their company.

Thomas McIntyre is a former aerospace executive now focused on tech entrepreneurship. Starting his career as a business strategy consultant for Boeing Phantom Works, L3 EIC, and Lockheed Martin, he recently spent seven years with Raytheon Technologies where Thomas was a production program manager. During his tenure, he was responsible for the manufacturing of air defense systems with a $100M P&L responsibility. He is now the CFO & CBO of Nobel Works Corp, a Tucson-based startup focused on commercializing supersonic combustion for power generation and clean energy purposes. Thomas holds an MBA in Finance from the Thunderbird School of Global Management and a BA from Ohio University. He has also been a US Peace Corps and American Red Cross volunteer and hopes to democratize financial tools to further the local entrepreneurial ecosystem.

This workshop will be held online and offered as part of the AZNavigator Program, a Local First Arizona Coalition offering small business and entrepreneurship assistance statewide. By attending this workshop, you will automatically be enrolled in the AZNavigator Program.
