MUSHROOM GIANT will be celebrating their 20th year (!!) as a band at the Northcote Social Club on Saturday 20th July. Joining them will be two of their favourite Aussie bands in BEAR THE MAMMOTH (post-rock) and ALL IS VIOLENT (post-metal).
Coming off the back of their recent tour with US post-metal legends Russian Circles and supporting roles with Mono (Japan), Yawning Man (US) and Hubris (Switzerland), Mushroom Giant have continued to impress audiences with their live shows both aurally and visually; complementing their intensely vibrant brand of heavy-psych rock with striking visual projections and lighting.
A bit over 20 years ago, while camping in remote forest wilderness with friends, Trent Horwood (drums) and Craig Fryers (bass) auspiciously met Simon Wade (guitar/keyboard) and within a year – to cut a long story short – he had joined their fledgling band. Derek Richards (guitar), a friend in the Melbourne rock scene, completed the lineup with Lok Mac coming on board as their specialist lighting designer mid-2023, around the time their aptly-named fourth album “In a Forest” was released (via Bird’s Robe Records, vinyl via Dunk! Records, Belgium).
Mushroom Giant will be performing a selection of songs from previous albums as well as debut performances of brand new tracks from their upcoming fifth album, due for release in 2025.
Tickets are $20 plus booking fee via www.northcotesocialclub.com/gigs (or $30 at the door, if not sold out). The Northcote Social Club is 301 High Street, Northcote. Get along, support awesome live music.
