In this two day workshop we will practice one of humanities most ancient crafts and create something that is as beautiful as it is functional.Using some of the finest English grown willow from Somerset, you'll be guided through the processes involved in making your very own woven basket.
Day 1 will involve focusing on creating a number of round bases, honing the skills necessary to build a strong foundation for your project. The day will end with us choosing the best base then attaching and securing the uprights which will later become the sides and border of the basket.
Day two will be filled with weaving the sides using a number of techniques, before forming the border and then finally attaching a handle.
Depending on the speed at which you work and the size of your initial project, there may also be an opportunity to select another base and begin a second project.
10am-4pm both days.
All tools and materials will be provided.
Teas and coffees will also be provided but you'll need to bring yourself a packed lunch and perhaps a few snacks.
The workshop will be held under a field shelter, but consider it alfresco and wear appropriate clothing.
The cost of this event is set at £160.
