What You Will Learn:

• Improving business performance is the theme of the workshop.
• The two-day Lean Simulation Bootcamp uses a production simulation to teach fundamental Lean practices, and connect these practices to business objectives and the profit and loss statement.
• Specifically, participants will learn how 5S, 7 wastes, kanban, level loading, flow, data analysis, value stream mapping, and Toyota Kata contribute to improved operations and profitability.
• Participants will perform several rounds of the simulation. Performance improves with the introduction of various Lean practices in each round.
• The profit and loss statement is updated and analyzed when each round is completed.
• The workshop ends with the participants developing an initial plan to apply the practices and methods in their own work environment.

Steven Kane is the Director of Coaching and Certification at Gemba Academy and has more than twenty years of experience in Lean and Continuous Improvement. Steven has been a kata coach since 2009 and is a certified coach through Coach-U, an ICF-accredited coach training organization. Prior to Gemba Academy, Steven had a diverse career ranging from being responsible for a large medical device sales territory, plant manager where he leveraged lean methods to drive improvement, and VP Operations at Specialty Silicone Fabricators where he led the lean efforts of the company. He has served on the western region board of The Association for Manufacturing Excellence and has worked with the Michigan Lean Learning Consortium and the California Central Coast Lean Forum.
