Designed for beginners, this hands-on workshop provides the foundational skills needed to confidently operate industrial sewing machines and create garments from start to finish. Whether you’re pursuing a career in fashion or enhancing your sewing skills, this course is your gateway to mastering professional techniques.
What You’ll Learn:
Day 1: Foundations of Industrial Sewing
- Understanding the anatomy of industrial sewing machines
- Safe operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of common issues
- Threading, bobbin winding, and mastering stitch tension on a flatbed
- Practising straight lines, curves, and corners for precision sewing
Day 2: Exploring Fabric and Techniques
- Introduction to various fabrics and their handling characteristics
- Threading industrial overlockers
- Accurately cut shapes from cloth and practice using the overlockers
- Applying practical techniques to construct a simple garment (i.e. a baby T-shirt)
- Adding finishing details such as binding and pockets
- Practising speed control and precision for professional-quality results
