TWO SISTERS
Erma and Sandy Thomas were born and raised in Pinellas Park, FL. Sandy enlisted in the Navy at 18, serving as a photographer before transitioning to abstract painting. Erma began her career as a draftsman in the mapping department of Pinellas County, eventually rising to lead the department and traveling widely to confer on mapping technologies, retiring in 1997. After retirement, Erma pursued portrait artistry. She resided in the family homestead throughout her life.
In 1997, facing changed circumstances, the sisters decided to become roommates once again and fully devote themselves to their art. They were active members of Judy Dazzio’s Dazzle Art Group at the Morean Art Center and the Pinellas Park Arts Society for many years. Their final wish was for their body of work to benefit an arts charity serving children and youth.
Their family honored this wish by donating their collection to Diversity Arts 501c3, an organization offering free art programs to youth and the community across Pinellas County.
