1st RIOS Community Open House

Dear friends, neighbors, and fellow businesses,

Hope you are staying healthy and enjoying the summer with everything slowly opening back up. Our team at RIOS is excited to invite you to a celebratory Open House at our office in Leimert Park!

We’ve all had an unprecedented and unforgettable 2020. Here at RIOS, we grew and adapted in countless ways throughout the many twists of the past year: from sending our employees home with computers in mid-March, to reevaluating the social responsibility of our practice following the tragic death of George Floyd in late-May, to learning how to navigate the fragile return to normalcy as dedicated community members in Leimert Park. Through it all, we witnessed the importance of inter-personal relationship and have grown to value the trust we share with our families, friends, neighbors, and local merchants.

For those of you who do not know us; RIOS is a multidisciplinary design & architecture firm located in the Crenshaw district. Last year, a group of our young and passionate designers formed the Social Impact Initiative (SII) to prioritize social, environmental, and spatial justice in our design work and advocate for an equitable future.

SII Community Building is a committee under the Social Impact Initiative at RIOS, and our goal is to contribute to the positivity radiating through South Central. We dedicate our efforts on listening to the voices of our community members, organizing ways to unite as one, and giving to the community with our available resources.

To celebrate the start of the summer, we are inviting you to our inaugural RIOS SII Community Open House, on July 23rd from 3pm-7pm. We are located in the big warehouse at the address of 3101 W Exposition Pl, where an abundance of cool ideas and designs are created. There will be food, drinks, music, and most importantly, good conversations about almost anything.

*COVID PRECAUTIONS UPDATE:

We will have an outdoor/indoor event. All food and drinks will be served outdoors. Attendees are REQUIRED to wear a mask indoor (masks and hand sanitizer will be provided at the venue.)

In addition, there following are installed inside of the RIOS office :

1. Sliders at three of the four barn doors

2. 2-4 Big Ass Fans (named brand) for natural ventilation

3. UVC lighting in our mechanical system

5. Multiple indoor plants
