1st Health Economics Dialogue
The 1st Health Economics Dialogue is a flagship inter-university academic event, organized by the Health Economics Study Alliance (HESA). It will be held on 11-12 December 2026 at the Institute of Health Economics, Arts Building, University of Dhaka, coinciding with Universal Health Coverage (UHC) Day.
Centered on the theme of UHC, the event brings together undergraduate students, academics, researchers, health professionals, and policymakers to discuss healthcare financing, equitable access to care, and contemporary health policy challenges.

Over six years, HESA has grown from a student-run club into a platform for health economics dialogue, with webinars, seminars, policy discussions, and co-hosting the 2nd International Health Economics Conference. The 1st Health Economics Dialogue is its first flagship event of its own, and the moment HESA moves from joining national conversations to convening one.
The timing and theme suit that role. UHC is a health economics question at its core, covering financing, risk pooling, resource allocation, equity, and financial protection. It is also urgent for Bangladesh, where out-of-pocket spending exceeds 70% of total health expenditure. On UHC Day, the next generation of health economists gets a stage to engage experts, present original research, and raise awareness.
