About the Host – Dwayne B (aka “The Crochet Kingpin”)
Dwayne B is a DC native and creative powerhouse—poet, activist, break-dancer, fashion designer, and longtime host of Spit Dat, DC’s longest-running open mic series. As a key member of the Busboys and Poets hosting team, he brings authenticity, artistry, and emotion to every stage.

His performances have spanned SAGAfest Iceland, Woolly Mammoth Theater, and more. He earned the Best Haiku Award at the 2011 National Underground Spoken-Word Poetry Awards, and his spoken-word advocacy for HIV awareness has received national recognition from the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation, BBC America, Discovery Channel, and The Washington Post.
