ETANA AND KENYATTA HILL TO HEADLINE THE PEOPLES FESTIVAL TRIBUTE TO BOB MARLEY IN SAVANNAH, GA ON SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 21, 2024
The 1st Annual Peoples Festival Tribute to Bob Marley is scheduled for Saturday, September 21, 2024. The venue is Victory North, Savannah’s premier venue for live music located at 2603 Whitaker Street in Savannah, GA.
The first part of the event is a cultural experience in the Courtyard and it starts outside at 3pm with food vendors, arts & crafts, African drumming, deejays and much more. This portion of the day is only a $10 donation and can be purchased on Eventbrite in advance or paid at the door. Kids 10 and under are free for the Courtyard.
At 6:30, the doors to the indoor concert venue open and the music starts at 7pm and ends at 11pm.
On stage, reggae fans will see Etana, Culture featuring Kenyatta Hill, Reggae Lou & The Kind Budz, plus the Xulu Prophet Band.
Etana
Shauna McKenzie, known by her stage name Etana, is a Jamaican reggae singer. Her debut studio album, The Strong One, was released in June 2008. In December 2018, Etana was nominated for the 61st & 64th Annual Grammy Awards for Best Reggae Album.
Culture featuring Kenyatta Hill
Kenyatta Hill’s career began the day his father’s ended. Joseph Hill, singer and songwriter for the legendary Jamaican vocal trio Culture, collapsed and died while on a 2006 tour of Europe. To the amazement of promoters, fans and critics alike, Kenyatta stepped onstage and delivered electrifying performances time and again - nineteen shows in all - until the tour was complete. This was unheard of in any genre of music at any time. Kenyatta continues to give of himself so totally – as his father had for so many years.
Reggae Lou & The Kind Budz
Reggae Lou & The Kind Budz has made a huge impact as a consistently performing and progressing Island Reggae Band. Their relentless schedule has made them a true positive musical force. Based out of Key West playing iconic music venues like The Green Parrot, and the Sunset Pier on a weekly basis.
Xulu Prophet Band
Savannah’s own Xulu Prophet band promise fans a live experience that will set your soul on fire. Their music transcends the boundaries of time and space, creating a euphoric harmony that will resonate within you long after the last note fades.
Veteran reggae promoter, Genny Pitts says, “This event follows on the heels of our successful Bob Marley Birthday Bash which was held on Tybee Island in February 2024. This new September event will be bigger and will offer world-class live reggae acts, rocking sound systems, an international food court, arts and craft vendors, a healing garden, live art space, a cigar lounge, and a day full of Unity, One Love, and Positive Vibes! Bring the family!”
The original Peoples Festival Tribute to Bob Marley was founded in 1994 in Wilmington, Delaware by Ibis and Genny Pitts. From 1976, they enjoyed a close friendship with Bob and his mother Cedella Marley Booker. In 1993, Mother Booker gave charge of The Tribute to Bob in Delaware, to Ibis and Genny Pitts. Since then, The Peoples Festival Tribute to Bob Marley has drawn thousands to Wilmington, the city where they shared lives, love and memories, and the city to become Bob’s first American home! Now, to keep this fire burning, The Peoples Festival 30th Anniversary is proud and delighted to bring the Positive Vibes to Victory North and Savannah “The Hostess City” Georgia!
Tickets are $30 for general admission (tickets increase to $35 on day of show); $50 advance for VIP standing area/$60 day of; $65 advance for VIP sitting area ($75 day of).
