This is an event designed to connect our adolescent and young adult (AYA) patients with community resources and employment opportunities
About this Event

The goals of this event are to connect our AYA patients and survivors with the following:

1) Community resources that will help them live more independently and navigate school/college and/or employment

2) Employment opportunities including those with strong disability resources

3) A community of peers who may be facing similar challenges in navigating independence and employment

Who is the event for? Childhood or young adult cancer survivors, patients with sickle cell disease, or patients who have received a stem cell transplant. (Lurie's and Northwestern patients are welcome). Goal age range: 16yrs to 34yrs

Schedule of Events:

1) Speakers - Past patients will describe their journey and experiences at the beginning of the event. This will be followed by a short talk on resume building, interview skills, and how to disclose medical information to employers.

2) Vendor fair - Participants will meet vendors and be able to ask questions, gather information, and access opportunities. Examples of some of our vendors are: ACE Hardware, Kin + Carta, La Salle Network, nursing and psychology tables, Speedway, Access Living, Chicago community college disabilities services, legal counsels, etc

A light breakfast and boxed lunch will be served.

*Please bring COVID19 vaccination card

*Check in at 2nd floor lobby front desk and follow signs to the 11th floor conference room
