1PROJECTS is pleased to announce our participation in the upcoming art fair ART SG 2023. The 1PROJECTS booth will feature new drawings by Imhathai Suwatthanasilp, photography works by Naraphat Sakarthornsap, and digital figurative prints by Phornphop Sittiruk, all Thai artists being introduced to a global audience at their first international art fair.

Imhathai Suwatthanasilp is best known for her works with human hair. 1PROJECTS will show a new body of her works: unique drawings inspired by organic forms and crochet patterns. Lines are drawn by graphite pencil on black backgrounds to create shiny reflections in shapes she selected reveal life, beauty and the hidden mystery as appear on her hair sculpture that she started exploring after moving her studio to Lamphun province, Thailand.

Naraphat Sakarthornsap, in many of his works, presents stories of inequality in society through photography, in which flowers play the leading roles. The artworks have been created for ART SG and have not been shown anywhere else before.

Phornphop Sittiruk is a conceptual and sculptures artist. Sittiruk creates sculptures and installations that require craftsmanship. The artist chooses objects and materials in his daily life, primarily considering their original meanings of life and then adding on. 1PROJECTS will show recent new figurative sketches not shown before which were created exclusively for ART SG.

NEW / NOW Sector
A salon-style exhibition for participating galleries to submit one artwork by an exciting new artist, priced at US$ 10,000 and below, introducing new collectors to emerging talents at affordable price points.

1PROJECTS is pleased to present a new collection of work by Yeo Shih Yun. On 12 June 2018, Singapore hosted a historic meeting between United States President Donald Trump and the leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, Chairman Kim Jong-un. Both leaders discussed denuclearization and the easing of military tensions.

The artist collected major newspapers over this period, both English and Chinese, and selected certain headlines and 'facts' to be scanned. Afterwards, these are recomposed and translated into silkscreens. Relevant pop culture icons like 'likes' from Facebook and peace sign with weapons are also made into silkscreens. Newspaper clippings and images derived from this peace summit explore a juxtaposition of traditional mark making and silk screen printing. Haphazardly confronting the discipline of printmaking allows for the silkscreens to be treated as brush strokes. The artist wishes to document this delicate but decisive moment in history in this work.

Yeo Shih Yun (b. 1976, Singapore) graduated from the National University of Singapore in 1998 with a Bachelor degree in Business Administration. She then joined LASALLE-SIA College of the Arts and completed a Diploma in Communication Design in 2001, prior to her pursuit of the Post Baccalaureate Programme in painting at the San Francisco Art Institute in 2002.

Professionally, Yeo is known to reinterpret the very act of ink painting with striking results. Her experimentations with the fusion of the traditional form and contemporary mediums, such as new media or performance art, have garnered much acclaim, including a commission by the Singapore Art Museum in 2011. Her “Conversations with trees” painting was nominated for Sovereign Asian Art Prize Finalists and awarded People's Choice Award in 2012, with her painting auctioned by Christie's Asia. She also won the UOB Painting of the Year Competition (Distinction in Abstract category) in 1999 & 2007. Additionally, Yeo has held exhibitions in Singapore, Hong Kong, Taipei, Shanghai, Tokyo & New York on the international scene. Her recent commissions include National Gallery Singapore, ‘My Ink- credible Adventure’ and solo exhibition at Esplanade titled ‘Chance Encounters’ in 2021. Her NFT video art titled “Mind Ink Painting Machine” is part of "Generative Art and the Future" hosted by Poly Auction China (China’s largest auction house). Recently, she is part of ‘NFTs + The Ever-Evolving World of Art’ Tezos exhibition at Art Basel Hong Kong May 2022 and also invited to "Digital Baroque' exhibition & auction that was curated by 4ART
NFT+ marketplace and minted on Palm network.
Yeo is also the Founder of the independent art space “INSTINC” in Singapore, where she currently lives and works.
