Parents are invited to bring their kindergarten through 5th-grade children to the 19th Annual Family Day at the A.K. Smiley Public Library Saturday, October 8, 2022. The event includes outdoor activities that families can enjoy together.
Meet and Greet Rafael López Renowned Illustrator for books such as
? Just Ask! Be Different, Be Brave, Be You, written by Sonia Sotomayor, Supreme Court Justice
? Dancing Hands: How Teresa Carreño Played the Piano for President Lincoln, written by Margarita Engle.
? The Day You Begin, written by Jacqueline Woodson
? The Little Book of Joy (coming Sept 27, 2022), written by His Holiness the Dalai Lama & Archbishop Desmond Tutu

Rafael López is an internationally recognized illustrator and artist. His illustrations bring diverse characters to children’s books and he is driven to produce and promote books that reflect and honor the lives of all young people. Born and raised in Mexico City to architect parents, López was immersed in the rich visual heritage, music, and surrealism of his native culture.
