About this Event
Did you know that the word “homosexual” was not in the Bible until 1946?
We are THRILLED to announce our plan to utilize the award-winning documentary, 1946: The Mistranslation That Shifted Culture, as a tool for civic engagement and to drive voter registration for the 2024 election. Our mission is to organize 14 free public conferences in US cities impacted by extremist ideologies. The primary objective of these assemblies is to activate the audience to vote and to advocate for the rights of the LGBTQIA+ community, standing up for democracy and promoting equality for everyone. We will discuss the power of civic engagement to stop evangelical and legislative domination and provide people with a sustainable narrative of compassion founded on research, history, and facts.
1946 is a feature documentary that follows the story of tireless researchers who trace the origins of the anti-gay movement among Christians to a grave mistranslation of the Bible in 1946. It chronicles the discovery of never-before-seen archives at Yale University which unveil astonishing new revelations, and casts significant doubt on any biblical basis for LGBTQIA+ prejudice. Featuring commentary from prominent scholars as well as opposing pastors, including the personal stories of the film’s creators, 1946 is at once challenging, enlightening, and inspiring.

Activate the audience to vote and engage in thoughtful, civil engagement and civil dialogue about the mistranslation weapons that are often used against LGBTQIA+ people. A register to vote and pledge to vote campaign.
Inspire the audiences, particularly our young Millennials and Gen Z audiences, to understand the power of their collective voice.
Connect intersectional movements, such as MAMA BEARS plus FREE MOM HUGS & youth, to demonstrate ways they can engage, collaborate and build power to push back against the forces that are organizing against us.
A Night for All
This doesn’t just affect the LGBTQIA+ community, this stretches into voter rights, desegregation, reproductive rights, women’s rights, and so forth.
1946 is a political, historical and cultural journey film that answers the questions, who put the word “homosexual” in the Bible and why but also, can you be LGBTQ+ and a Christian? We invite you to come with us as we discover how interpretations and applications of the Bible play out in our real realities. Whether you are religious, non-religious, christian, Jewish or Muslim ,LGBTQ+ or an ally, the film is important for all to watch and learn how, but also why this happened and how we can work together to stand up for LGBTQ+ and all people's rights globally, in society and in the church. Thank you and we hope to see you there.
