The Flint Institute of Arts Museum + Art School and Communities First, Inc. present the 18th Annual Community Gala on February 1, 2025. This spectacular event celebrates the exhibition openings of Romare Bearden: Artist as Activist and Visionary and We Loved the Swag: From Black Bottom Until Now by Detroit native, artist Judy Bowman. The evening begins with a lecture by Co-Director of the Romare Bearden Foundation, Diedra Harris-Kelly, followed by the openings in the Hodge and Temporary Galleries, live entertainment, heavy hors d’oeuvres, and a cash bar. All galleries will be open for your enjoyment. Proceeds support exhibitions and expand the African American art collection at the FIA.
Theater seating is first come, first served. The presentation begins promptly at 6p. Cocktail attire.
