SATURDAY 20 SEPTEMBER IS 1618 DAY AT THE WHIPPLE!In honour of our beautiful Jacobean building, originally Cambridge’s Free School, we’re exploring everything 17th-century, from historic scientific instruments to the secrets of our building. We’re open all day with family activities, curator talks and behind-the-scenes tours.

Programme:
10–10.30am & 10.30–11am | Behind-the-scenes: caring for 17th-century objects with Collections Manager Morgan Bell
11–12pm | Practical science in 1618 with Director Dr Joshua Nall
1.30–2.30pm | Bridging Binaries LGBTQ+ history of science tour
2.30–3.30pm | Children’s activities: the Great Comet of 1618!
2.30–3.15pm | Secrets of Free School Lane: a walking tour with Curator Dr Hannah Price
