About this Event
T he Civil Rights Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will be held October 31, 2024 beginning 10:00AM. The event will be held in the Atrium of the Ohio Statehouse, 1 Capitol Square, Columbus, Ohio 43215.
The Civil Rights Hall of Fame seeks to honor outstanding Ohioans who are recognized as pioneers in human and civil rights and who have advanced the goals of equality and inclusion. Inductees of the Ohio Civil Rights Hall of Fame are individuals who have made significant contributions in support of civil rights, cultural awareness and understanding in furtherance of a more just society. The honor bestowed on this select group of civil rights heroes will be officially recorded in Ohio's history. This year's inductees are:

The Ohio Civil Rights Commission (OCRC), along with long-time supporting sponsors Wright State University, Honda and PNC, will host the fifteenth annual Ohio Civil Rights Hall of Fame induction ceremony. The program will consist of a formal ceremony that will honor men and women who have made significant contributions to the progress of civil rights and equal justice in the State of Ohio. Stacia Naquin, News Anchor for ABC 6 and Fox 28 News Columbus, will serve as Mistress of Ceremonies for this year’s event. Representative Josh Williams will provide the keynote address; performers during the ceremony are James Blackmon and Samara Baptist-McMullen.
The event is free and all members of the public are invited to attend the induction ceremony and the reception that will be held in the Ohio Statehouse Rotunda immediately following the ceremony.

What parking is available?
Unfortunately, this event does not have designated parking. Parking around the Ohio Statehouse can be difficult to find and guests are urged to allow plenty of time to find parking. The Ohio Statehouse Parking Garage is open to the public, but often fills up early. There are several other parking garages, surface parking lots, and metered parking options such as ParkColumbus and Parkmobile Apps around Capitol Square.
What can I bring into the event?
The Ohio Statehouse has strict security protocols, including metal detectors and x-ray machines. All weapons and other dangerous materials are prohibited. Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
It is not necessary to bring tickets. However, in order to track attendance and offer proper seating, the Civil Rights Hall of Fame is requiring all guests to RSVP.
