SATURDAY, 15 OCTOBER 2022TAKE A BREATHTAKING JOURNEY THROUGH THE SCENIC CUMBRIAN FELLS
AND ALONG THE FAMOUS SETTLE & CARLISLE RAILWAY
The Settle & Carlisle railway is famous for its magnificent scenery, including the 24 arch Ribblehead Viaduct providing stunning panoramic views of the surrounding three peaks.
Relax and take in the beautiful surroundings of Wensleydale as we climb to the top of Ais Gill summit, travel through the Eden Valley and into the historic City of Carlisle, where we arrive at approximately 1500 for a two hour break.
In this time, why not take the opportunity to visit the Cathedral or Castle, or take a wander around the shops and eateries in the City Centre.
We depart Carlisle station at 1700 hours and wind our way down the Country through Penrith, Oxenholme and Warrington, along the West Coast Mainline and homeward bound.
Motive power is expected to be a pair of class 37 diesel locomotives throughout, courtesy of West Coast Railways, hauling Mark 1 carriages from Riviera Trains.
