13 Jun: Groom Their Room [Bilingual Design Workshop for ages 9-12]

Groom Their Room is a hands-on design thinking experience where children (ages 9-12) learn to:

• empathise with the elderly
• think like real designers
• build with their hands
• explore generative A.I. while developing critical thinking
• build confidence in speaking Mandarin

Through this one-day workshop, children will be participate in bilingual games and be given a design challenge to create a piece of furniture for an elderly relative!
It’s especially meaningful for families with:

• Grandparents at home
• Multi-generational living
• A desire to build stronger family bonds

💬 Bilingual Learning (English + Mandarin)

• Conducted in both English and Mandarin
• Fun-filled environment with the use of games and drama to introduce new vocabulary
• Students practise presenting ideas in Mandarin in a natural, meaningful context
  

👵 Design for Real Life (Not Just Themselves)

• Step into the shoes of elderly users
• Go beyond understand mobility challenges, fear of falling but consider elderly's personhood, aspirations and daily routines
• Identify hidden needs and opportunities
  

🦾 Develop a Healthy Relationship with A.I.

• Use *A.I. to amplify creativity and visualise ideas
• Develop value judgement and critique of what A.I. produces
  *This workshop will utilise Hypersketch, an A.I. tool developed by STUCK to empower users to build ideas visually

Children can expect:

• High-energy games and icebreakers
• Empathy exercises to understand Ah Ma / Ah Gong
• Creative brainstorming techniques
• Create simple 3D prototypes of their furniture
• Prepare a final presentation/skit in Mandarin
