The Butterfly Run, hosted by Guardian Angel Hospice Foundation, was established to raise awareness about grief and loss while providing a compassionate space for the community to honor and remember those who have touched our hearts. What began as a butterfly dream twelve years ago has blossomed into a cherished tradition.
Set against the natural beauty of Prophetstown State Park, the Butterfly Run offers a welcoming space where compassion and intention meet community. It is a place where stories can be shared, memories are held with care, and no one walks alone.

This family-friendly event has something for everyone!
🦋 9:45 AM — The Flutter Run: A delightful 50‑yard dash for children 10 and under to kick off the morning.
💛 10:15 AM — Butterfly Reflection & Release We will gather to remember the special people who shaped our lives, whisper a message to a butterfly, and release it in their honor — a moment of love, remembrance, and gratitude for what was.
🏃♀️ 10:30 AM — 5K Memorial Walk & Fun Run Timed runners will lead the way, followed by family and friends who choose to walk at a leisurely pace.
Throughout the morning, you are invited to share stories, reflect on special memories, and connect with others who share the power of remembrance. This is a safe, supportive space where compassion leads the way and every step honors someone special.
