12 Minutes Max returns on September 20th with a special program featuring two longer form pieces—it’s a Max Minutes 21! The month’s program will feature a short documentary film by James McAllister and Annie Eskander, with a dance performance directed by Molly Heller. JAMES McALLISTER and ANNIE ESKANDER
James McAllister and Annie Eskander will share their film Bee Money: Mormon Gangster Rapper, a short documentary following the life and career of Utah rapper Bee Money, whose music and larger-than-life persona challenge expectations in his religious community. Through candid moments, performances and interviews, the doc explores identity, creativity, and the surprising ways Bee balances different parts of his life. Directed by James McAllister, co-produced and edited with Annie Eskander.
James McAllister and Annie Eskander are a filmmaking team specializing in documentary storytelling. Their collaborative work includes Toy Stories: Secret Life of a Toy Designer, Bee Money, and several upcoming documentaries featuring creative histories in Ogden, UT. James teaches film and digital media at Weber State University. Annie teaches podcasting and music to teens at the Boys & Girls Club and works as an editor/data manager on film sets. Together, they like to make weird stuff that captures hidden treasures and creative minds.
MOLLY HELLER
This Will Destroy You is an evening length work directed by Molly Heller and presented by RDT’s Link Series. It premieres at the Leona Wagner Black Box, in the Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center, September 10th – 12th at 7:30pm.
This Will Destroy You explores cycles of grief, labor and care, and non-resolution. Choreography and performance by Stephanie García, Molly Heller, Marissa Mooney, Tara McArthur, and Ursula Perry. Film and Editing by Kellie St. Pierre, music composition by Nick Foster, and costumes by Roxanna Sevilla.
Molly Heller is the Director of Heartland, a multidisciplinary collective based in Salt Lake City with performances nationally and internationally. She is also co-owner and co-director of Material gallery with Jorge Rojas and an Associate Professor in the School of Dance at the University of Utah. Her work has been presented nationally and internationally and her research explores performance as a healing practice and the relationship between physical expression and emotion.
Molly holds certifications in Pilates and Reiki. As a performer, she has worked with Naganuma Dance, Netta Yerushalmy, Stephen Koester, Satu Hummasti, and Katie Faulkner, and currently performs with Joanna Kotze.

12 Minutes Max is dedicated to the memory of our dear friend and colleague Paul Reynolds: artist, librarian, and patron of the arts.
The 12 Minutes Max program is a curated monthly performance series featuring experimental short works by local artists in many different disciplines, including dance, music, film, and more. Each piece is followed by a Q&A with the artist. 12MM is modeled after the program originated by On the Boards in Seattle.
