11th Annual London Conference on Belarusian Studies

UCL School of Slavonic and East European Studies, the Ostrogorski Centre, and the Francis Skaryna Belarusian Library and Museum jointly present the 11th Annual Conference on Belarusian Studies, bringing together scholars to explore key developments and debates in contemporary Belarusian studies.

The conference will take place on 8–9 May 2026 in a hybrid format. The programme will conclude with the Annual London Lecture on Belarusian Studies, following the main conference panels. The first day of the conference will take place at UCL while the seciond will take place at the Francis Skaryna Belarusian Museum and Library in London.

The conference will be organised around thematic sections covering history, politics, international relations, society, culture and other topics with a strong emphasis on interdisciplinary perspectives. The panels will reflect current scholarly approaches and methodological diversity within the field of Belarusian studies.

Participants attending in person will be invited to a reception at UCL, as well as a guided tour of the Francis Skaryna Belarusian Library and Museum and the Church of St Cyril of Turau and All the Patron Saints of the Belarusian People.

Selected contributions will be peer-reviewed and published in the Journal of Belarusian Studies in 2026.

The organising committee comprises Prof Yarik Kryvoi (Co-Chair), Prof Andrew Wilson (Co-Chair), Peter Braga, and Dr Karalina Matskievich.

The conference will be recorded, and recordings of previous editions are available online.

Conference partners include the Journal of Belarusian Studies, the British Association of Slavonic and East European Studies (BASEES), and the Anglo-Belarusian Society.
