The 113 Statues of Lord Shakyamuni Buddha (each about 9 inches in height), specially commissioned as an offering to His Holiness the Great 14th Dalai Lama on the occasion of his recent 89th birthday, have now been completed and have been consecrated. The number 113 indicates the auspicious age to which our precious guru will live, as divined by the Deities. The equally auspicious number 9 represents longevity and perpetuity. There are still about 40 statues that remain available for sponsorship and name dedication, and sponsorship will remain open for another month or so. Any of the devoted who still wish to participate in this virtuous activity, and have not yet done so, please do not hesitate to contact us. The generous benefactors will have their names attached at the base of the statues that they sponsor.
