10th Annual Saint Sophia YAL Spiritual Retreat

Welcome to Saint Sophia's 2024 10th Annual Retreat! The retreat will take place at the beautiful St Nina's Sacred Monastery on Saturday, March 22 at 9 AM beginning with Divine Liturgy. The day will include attending services and faith-based discussions, and assisting with chores around the monastery. We look forward to you joining us for a weekend full of spiritual nourishment (and fun!).

ATTENDANCE:

The retreat will be open to 30 people total for the date of March 22. However, there are 18 spots for overnight stay if you wish to arrive on Friday evening at 5 pm and sleep at the Monastery on the 21 and 22. If you decide to stay overnight, you are responsible for reserving your spot (more info below) and arranging your transportation. Attendance is based on a first-come, first-serve basis.

FOOD:

Food will be provided by the Monastery. Note all the meals will adhere to the Lenten fast. If you have special dietary requirements, please indicate this in the questionnaire to follow.

TRANSPORTATION

For people going on Saturday only, we will do our best to organize carpools and rendezvous points for those who need a ride as we get closer to the event. Please let us know if you might be willing to drive some folks up. Riders are encouraged to give gas money to those driving, and the ride is more fun with friends!

TERMS & CONDITIONS

All retreat participants must live in the metropolitan DC area, or within 75 miles from the church and must have attended two formal Saint Sophia YAL events this year. For those who do not meet the criteria, we will establish a waitlist. Those who do not qualify, thank you for your understanding as we are a DC-area YAL chapter and we need to make sure DC-area YALers have first option for registration).

IMPORTANT ADVISORIES (PLEASE READ ALL):

While this most certainly will be a fun retreat for all, it is important to remember that our goal is to bond personally and spiritually, bringing us together as a community to advance our four-pronged mission of Worship, Witness, Service & Fellowship. As we are all adults, we will expect that everyone acts in accordance with these standards.

1.) All participants must be aged 21 or over.

2.) Since we are guests at the Monastery, we must ensure we take great care to not damage anything on-site.

3.) If you choose to stay overnight, toilet paper and soap will be provided for all but you are responsible for bringing your own toiletries (shampoo, toothpaste, etc.)

4.) If you decide to stay overnight, you will need to select the “Overnight Stay" add on as you select the tickets. Again, there are only 18 spots for overnight stay.
