10th Annual Flat Fish Classic

Our Tournament Committee has finalized the plan for this year’s 10th Annual Flatfish Classic. The tournament as usual will start at 5:00 a.m. Friday, July 19th, 2024 and fish must be at the event stage (Leadbetter Beach, Santa Barbara, Ca) no later than 5:00 p.m. Saturday, July 20th, 2024. Here's a brief summary of what this year's tournament will look like:

- We will be awarding the top three halibut this year! The contestant with the longest overall halibut will be taking home the $1500 Grand Prize (In the event of a tie the prize money will be evenly split). The contestant with the 2nd longest overall halibut will be taking home $500. The contestant with 3rd longest overall halibut will taking home $250. The contestant with the longest Kayak caught halibut will be taking home a Hobie Compass Kayak.

- This year’s basic tournament entry fee will be $100.

- This year we will also have an optional White Seabass/Yellowtail category that contestants can enter for an additional $30. The heaviest overall fish in this category will be awarded $500.

- All fish will be measured at Leadbetter Beach (Just down the road from Santa Barbara Harbor). We will have tournament officials at Leadbetter Beach measuring fish from 3:00-5:00 p.m. Saturday afternoon. Anyone not at Leadbetter Beach by 5:00 p.m. will not have their fish measured!

- Contestants will receive a raffle ticket for a Yeti cooler drawing for each halibut over 28" that they turn in to be measured!

- We will be having a raffle this year so be sure you're at Leadbetter to claim your prize, must be present to win!

- The first 100 contestants to sign up will receive a free T-shirt, sizes are limited so the earlier you sign up the better chance you'll get the correct size.

- The winner will be announced Saturday evening/night through email and Facebook/Instagram.

You'll find the "Rules & Regulations" form and "Waiver of Liability" Form in the contestant questionnaire/registration portion of this event page. Please read them all thoroughly and agree to them before signing up and paying your fee. Make sure to get signed up sooner than later and forward our event page link to anyone who may be interested in competing.
