Hailing from Bielsko-Biała and currently studying in Kraków, Mateusz Dubiel has been dubbed the ‘new hope’ of Polish piano playing. He won the first prize at the Fryderyk Chopin National Piano Competition in Warsaw, which earned him a place in the prestigious 2025 International Chopin Competition.
In 2023, graduated from high school in his hometown of Bielsko-Biała, where he studied piano under Anna Skarbowska. Currently studying at the Krzysztof Penderecki Academy of Music in Kraków, where he studies under Professor Mirosław Herbowski.
The winner of the 51st and 53rd National Fryderyk Chopin Competition in Warsaw (2022, 2025) and was a participant in the 19th International Fryderyk Chopin Competition in Warsaw in 2025. Also a laureate of several international competitions for young pianists, including the Arthur Rubinstein in Memoriam in Bydgoszcz (2021), the Jeune Chopin in Lugano, Switzerland (2023), and the Baltic Competition in Gdańsk (2023). Participated in master classes led by professors Michel Beroff, Piotr Paleczny, Kevin Kenner, Andrzej Jasiński, Arie Vardi, and Angela Hewitt.
Given recitals in Poland and abroad, including at the Royal Castle in Warsaw, the birthplace of Fryderyk Chopin in Żelazowa Wola, the Krzysztof Penderecki European Centre for Music in Lusławice, Cavatina Hall in Bielsko-Biała, and the Pomeranian Philharmonic in Bydgoszcz.
Also performed in Japan, the United States, Paris, Vilnius, Hamburg, Cologne, and Majorca. Performed at the Chopin Festival in Duszniki-Zdrój (2024 and 2025), the Polish Radio Chopin Marathon, and the Chopin Interpretations of the Young Piano Festival in Konin-Żychlin, where won first place (2022).
The artist is the recipient of the Coryphaeus of Polish Music statuette in the Discovery of the Year category (2025) and the IKAR 2021 Award from the Mayor of Bielsko-Biała in the field of culture and art. He has also received scholarships from the National Children’s Fund, the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, and the Młoda Polska scholarship program. He is currently a beneficiary of the Henryk Sztompka Scholarship Fund.
