The Louisiana Center for Health Equity (LCHE) and our Together We Are More Adolescent Health Collaborative are excited to announce that the 10th Anniversary of the Youth Peace Olympics (YPO) is accepting applications. LCHE is set to commemorate the 10th Anniversary of the YPO, a youth violence prevention program, on Friday, April 21st and Saturday, April 22nd. Click here to apply now.

As part of the celebration of the YPO, LCHE is asking community members, parents, and previous participants to take a walk down memory lane at this year's Opening Ceremony. Community members and young people as well as community resource organizations and partners are invited to come out to BREC Ben Burge Park on the evening of Friday, April 21st in celebration of this milestone in the Baton Rouge community.

The public is encouraged to RSVP for FREE food, fun, games, and tons of community resources. This will then be followed by a Peace March and Parade in Gardere on Saturday April 22nd at the BREC Hartley Vey Park and a youth summit at BREC Perkins Road Community Park. Community organizations, churches, civic and social groups are invited to register to participate in the parade, click here to register.

Starting in the Gardere area, YPO has reached youth throughout the state, serving ages 10 to 17. YPO seeks to educate and empower youth to reduce violence and make healthy lifestyle choices using a holistic public health approach through monthly day camps, field trips, and activities from May through September. Topics are focused on crime prevention, physical and mental health, life skills, artistic expression, and STEAM. Baton Rouge area youth are invited to apply here now. Parental consent is required. Hurry as space is limited!

How to Support:

Support our community program by sponsoring a youth, camp, or a general donation. See tickets, etc.

Coaches and volunteers are also being recruited. If you are ages 18 years and up and interested in volunteering, please apply here.
