UTC-05:00Location
317 S 11th St, Garland, TX 75040-6114, United States | Garland, TX
The celebrated Pace House move saw the high-profile dwelling relocated by professional movers from behind city hall past the Granville Arts Center, west on Austin Street through downtown Garland, and onto 11th, where it came to rest on a residential lot at 317 South 11th. Since then it has been used as a dwelling and has been the site of numerous public tours at Christmas and other occasions.
At 10 a.m. on the Pace House front porch will be a special ceremony acknowledging the anniversary, recognizing city officials and others that assisted with the arrangements in transitioning the publicly owned structure to private property, and recognizing members of the Pace family. The home originally was the main farm house on a cotton farm owned by John and Nina Pace. Refreshments will be served on the porch.
Then from 1-3 p.m. a free public showing of the five-time award-winning documentary "Saving Magic 11th Street" will be offered in Epiphany Gallery, 622 West State Street in downtown Garland. The 23-minute documentary, featuring the Pace House move in 2014 and the fanfare surrounding it, will be shown continuously from 1-3. Refreshments will be served.
