"Using assessment and evaluation as therapeutic allies empowers individuals and communities to actively participate in their healing journey, promoting autonomy and self-discovery." - Unknown
This year's Summit theme is "Using Assessment & Evaluation to Drive Therapeutic Partnership and Healing. " This theme is crucial for people of African descent due to diverse cultural backgrounds, stigma around mental health, language barriers, trauma experiences, and the need for community-centered approaches. Prioritizing assessment and evaluation helps tailor culturally sensitive therapies, build trust, address language barriers, identify trauma-related issues, and involve the community, leading to improved mental health outcomes and healing. By prioritizing assessment and evaluation in therapeutic practices, schools, healthcare providers, and other helping professionals can better understand the unique needs and strengths of people of African Descent, foster trust and collaboration, and ultimately contribute to improved mental health outcomes and healing within the community.
