1000 Tyres Plymouth Waterfront Underwater Clean-Up

Who: Divers and Topside Crew, 18 years or older. (under 18s welcome with guardian)
Please note that parents are responsible for their children who are attending this event.
All participants will need to fill out a waiver and provide emergency contact information to the shore manager; the form will be sent to you after you join. All divers need to fill out a dive release and waiver and provide copies of their dive qualifications; the forms will be sent to you after you get a ticket from Eventbrite.
Divers: You need to be a BSAC Sports Diver or Padi Rescue Diver or above to participate.
Joining instructions will be sent to you after you get your ticket from Eventbite.
We will be based at The Waterfront car park, where we will be entering and exiting the water, and one of our team members will direct traffic in the car park. Please come into the Waterfront Restaurant parking area to drop off your dive kit, then leave to find on-street parking. Paid street parking is widely available around the Waterfront and Plymouth Hoe areas.
Please report to our Shore Manager to check in and complete the required paperwork. The Shore Manager will pass divers on to our Dive Manager, and shore-based volunteers will stay with the Shore Manager.
· Divers need to bring diver certifications or copies of dive certification, all their own dive kit including mask, fins, weights, BCD, wetsuit or drysuit, DSMB, reels, compass, tanks, and other diving kit you regularly use. Additional kit may be rented at Aquanauts Dive Shop (01752 228825) located in the Barbican. If you are having trouble obtaining kit please ask the SHIPS team as we may be able to help.
· We are not providing lunch. There are several places to buy lunch around the Waterfront area of Plymouth Hoe, including The Waterfront Restaurant itself. Please refrain from alcohol while volunteering at this event.
· Non-divers must bring sturdy shoes that are non-slip, you will be working on the harbour wall or on a dive boat handling rubbish from the sea. Please wear clothes you are happy to get dirty and bring sunscreen and a hat.
o Cold water for refillable water bottles.
o Safety glasses and protective gloves for non-divers.
o Safety gloves for divers.
o Cutting shears for fishing line and rope.
o Bags for rubbish.
o Plastic trowels for divers.
o DSMBs
· Diving is an activity that has associated known risks, so safety of all personnel is of the utmost importance.
· Please follow all instructions given by the Dive Manager and Shore Manager.
· Any volunteer who engages in an unsafe activity will be asked to leave the event.
· Care must be taken when undertaking any task near the water. Watch out for trip hazards and stone steps washed by the sea will be slippery.
· Please refrain from consuming alcohol while volunteering on this event.
· A first aid kit and first aid trained personnel will be available on site.
· Any accidents, however small, should be reported to the Shore Manager or Dive Manager.
