Cultural awareness begins with an understanding of our place in the world, how we are influenced by the cultural groups we belong to. Culture influences how we think and how we act, and we need to understand our own cultural identity before we can understand others.'
Thanks to a generous grant from the Chelsea Community Foundation, the residents of St. Louis Center, a residential community in Chelsea for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, have been on a year-long journey of cultural discovery. This 1,000 Flowers Could Bloom event will be the capstone of this cultural awareness program. St. Louis Center is pleased to invite you to the campus Wednesday, February 26, 2025 at 6:00pm to participate in this exclusive opportunity facilitated by Curioser Clay. Together with the residents of St. Louis Center and the wider community of interested individuals, educator and clay artist Eli Zemper will engage folks with and without disabilities in creating their own ceramic flower stamped with words and images that describe their cultural identity.
**Because of the multitude of factors that come to play in creating a piece out of clay from scratch, about 5% of the time a piece will crack in the firing process. Know that these circumstances are out of the control of Curiouser, and that Curiouser can not guarantee that your project will survive the firing process- unfortunately, cracks happen. Even to us! Should your piece crack during the firing process, unfortunately, there are no refunds.
All sales are final. Although there are no refunds, should you find yourself unable to attend, you may transfer your ticket to another person.
