A total of 2614242 companies were registered in the country as of 31st December 2023 of which 63% (1652249) are active. Around 1.5L Private Limited Companies are Registered per year

Nifty 500 companies employ 10 million (1 Crore) people in 2021-22 paying wages of Rs 700000 per employee.

1571198 registered private limited companies employ 45 million (4.5 Crore) people.

There are a total of 633.9 lakh MSMEs in India. Over 99% of these MSMEs qualify as micro-enterprises making up 630.5 lakh Enterprises but turnover of 70% of MSMEs is Rs 10L/year. These micro-enterprises are mainly solopreneurs or consultants with hardly 2 to 4 permanent employees.
