A punk film doesn't have to be about punk music.
It can be a documentary, drama, comedy, thriller, horror, science fiction, animation, experimental film, music film — or something that refuses to fit neatly into a category.
A punk film takes a risk.
It has a point of view.
It has a pulse.
It comes from somewhere real.
It can be funny, beautiful, disturbing, political, tender, outrageous, heartbreaking or completely unexpected.
Punk is individuality, imagination and the courage to make something authentic.
That's why films as different as One Battle After Another, The Naked Gun and The Godfather can be seen through a punk lens: filmmakers taking creative risks, challenging expectations and making something unmistakably their own.
If it has a human voice, a fearless point of view and something real to say — we want to see it.

The 2026 LA Punk Film Festival Awards celebrate the filmmakers whose work brings originality, courage and independent spirit to the screen.
Award winners will be recognized during the festival's 10th Anniversary awards presentation.
And the celebration continues with a international streaming exhibit.
The 2026 festival also includes a Worldwide Streaming Exhibition and Online Audience Awards, connecting the LA Punk Film Festival with audiences beyond Los Angeles.
