Come join us at Brown Likka Fridayz, where we meet in a West Oakland backyard for food, fellowship and conversation. The idea started with West Oakland Cultural Action Network (WOCAN) founder David Peters, who invited neighbors to his porch to talk ... while sharing a bottle of Brown Likka!

During the 2024 election season, we are hosting local candidates to give residents a chance to address their issues and ask questions face-to-face. Here's a look at the guests for Oct. 18:

My name is Ryan Richardson, and I am running to be Oakland’s next City Attorney.

I’ve practiced law for over 20 years, and I’ve been helping to keep Oakland moving forward for over a decade. From working as an analyst in the City’s equal employment office where I investigated employee complaints of discrimination and harassment, to now serving as a Chief Assistant City Attorney in Barbara Parker’s office, I have made it my mission to serve our community with dignity and respect. I’m proud to be the only candidate that City Attorney Parker trusts to continue the office’s legacy, earning her early endorsement in this election.

Oakland’s City Attorney has a difficult and extremely technical job. The City Attorney has to manage and facilitate the work of over 80 civic-minded professionals who put Oakland first. As a team, we help our elected leaders do their jobs by providing them with timely and accurate legal advice. We defend Oakland’s services and programs when they come under attack and we protect Oakland residents from fraud, abuse, and pollution.

My experience in the City Attorney’s office and beyond, my skill set as a lawyer and manager, and my vision for the office make me uniquely equipped to work for you and with you as your next City Attorney. When I say it would be my honor, I truly mean it. I’m ready to serve.
