Fold-forming is a quick but surprising way of shaping and texturing metal. By hammering on folded metal in particular ways, a wide range of shapes can be easily created. For this workshop, each student will have a chance to create their own pair of copper fold-formed earrings with silver ear wires. All tools and materials are included. No experience is necessary!
James Thurman is a Professor of Metalsmithing & Jewelry at the University of North Texas’ College of Visual Arts & Design. He received his MFA in Metalsmithing from the Cranbrook Academy of Art and his BFA in Sculpture from Carnegie Mellon University. Currently serving as President of the Board of Directors of the DMC, he is thrilled to be teaching as part of a great team of instructors.
