About this Event
This FREE "Compost Happens" Workshop at Crews Lake Park is part of the 2024 Earth Day Celebration.
Yard trimmings, leaves and other landscape waste can be combined with kitchen waste in the composting process to create fertile, organic matter that can be added to soil, mulch and potting soil to help your plants flourish. Composting is nature's way of recycling...actively helped along by you!
Join in this informative in-person presentation to learn tips and tricks about the science and art of composting from Kate Kaste, Program Manager for the Florida-Friendly Landscaping program at UF/IFAS Extension Pasco County.
The Florida-Friendly Landscaping™ Program is here to help you learn how to have healthy and beautiful landscapes that protect Florida’s natural resources by following nine science-based principles:
- Right Plant, Right Place
- Water Efficiently
- Fertilize Appropriately
- Mulch
- Attract Wildlife
- Manage Yard Pests Responsibly
- Recycle Yard Waste
- Reduce Stormwater Runoff
- Protect the Waterfront
A Florida-friendly landscape can be designed to look the way you want, fit the aesthetics of your community, and suit your lifestyle, while being environmentally sustainable.
