Featuring live performances and interviews, Wenders’s documentary paints a heartwarming picture of a group of Cuban musicians who have never wavered from their craft. At the time of filming, the likes of Ibrahim Ferrer, Eliades Ochoa, Omara Portuondo, and Compay Segundo are already in their 70s and 80s, but they are still healthy enough to perform and record. Their collaboration results in a spectacular album and concerts outside of Cuba, reigniting the world’s interest in the island country’s music.
