Tournament Rules/format
1. Modified Single Elimination Tournament – you are guaranteed to play two matches, you are not guaranteed two losses.
2. Each match is a Race to 4, with a maximum total of 7 games played per match.
3. All matches are played using APA 8-Ball Rules. The exception is that an 8 on the break doesn’t count as a win and an 8 on the break and a scratch does not result in a loss. In the event of an 8 on the break, the 8 is spotted on the foot spot.
4. The first game is scotch triples. The next three games are scotch doubles. And the final three racks are singles.
5. One player from each team will lag for the break in the first rack.
6. The first rack is Scotch Triples. All three players participate in that rack and must maintain rotation throughout the rack.
7. On the 8-ball, please mark the pocket with something other than chalk. It is not illegal to use chalk, but to avoid arguments, we would prefer you use something else.
8. The winner of the first rack chooses which team puts up the first doubles combination in game #2. They may elect to announce their first pairing or have the other team put up the first pairing.
9. Throws alternate from that point on for the rest of the match. If Team A puts up the first paring in game #2, Team B will put up the first pairing in game #3.
10. Teams must play each doubles combination once. Player A must play a rack with Player B. Player B must play a rack with Player C. And Player A will play a rack with Player C.
11. In Singles (Racks 5-7), each player must play one rack. Player A plays a game. Player B plays a game. Player C plays a game.
12. The match continues until one team has won 4 games.
13. The team that wins Game #1 breaks in game #2. The Game #2 winner breaks in Game #3 and so on.
14. There is one timeout per team per rack. Timeouts are full team timeouts. All three players and can be at the table and all three players can talk. Timeouts should not last more than one minute.
